CMB1 - Strategies and Best Practices for Navigating Cybersecurity Threats

This session aims to review and share strategies and best practices in safeguarding Community Health Centers against cyber threats. It will include a panel discussion of key professionals from DHS's Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (the operational lead for federal cybersecurity and the national coordinator for critical infrastructure security and resilience), OCHIN (a nonprofit leader in equitable health care innovation), HHS and a community health center, Salud Family Health Center.

The panel will focus on the following:
1) CISA's role within the federal government as it relates to cybersecurity, how they work with Health Centers and federal partners, current cybersecurity threats related to healthcare, and CISA resources.
2) OCHIN will present an overview of cybersecurity best practices and some pitfalls for health centers.
3) ASPR/HHS will present Resources available to health centers including lessons learned/best practices from past cybersecurity breaches and resources available from HHS and its partners
4) Salud Family Health Center will describe its cybersecurity attack and what it has done to prevent future cybersecurity incidents.

  • Gain insight into current cybersecurity threats.
  • Gain awareness on partnerships and resources to mitigate these threats.
  • Understand Cybersecurity best practices from a Health Centers, Private and Federal partners.
