Healthcare and Public Health Sector Liaison

Charles Sweat Jr. MD, MPH serves as the Healthcare and Public Health (HPH) Sector Liaison at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Division within the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Dr. Sweat serves as CISA's principal interface with other government and private sector stakeholders within the HPH sector. He has extensive knowledge and expertise in implementation science, with a focus on breaking down barriers, filling gaps, and determining the individual facilitators required to optimize the implementation of desired end results.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Sweat supported various other government agencies including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS)/Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) office, the Defense Health Agency (DHA), and most recently, DHS' Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) office.
Dr. Sweat obtained his medical degree from the University of Louisville in 2008. After working for a few years in clinical medicine he obtained his Master of Public Health (MPH) degree from the University of Virginia in 2014.
