Dr. James L. Coleman, Jr. is a 1986 graduate of Camden High School, a 1990 graduate of Winthrop University, BS, Physical Education; 1992 graduate of University of Central Arkansas, MS, Kinesiology and 1996 graduate of University of Tennessee, Ed.D., Health Education.
Dr. Coleman former employers include: SC DHEC as the Bureau Chief for Community Health; CDC as a Behavioral Scientist; and Morehouse School of Medicine Prevention Research Center as the Associate Director.
Currently, Dr. Coleman serves as Chief Executive Officer with G.A. Carmichael Family Health Center, Inc., located in Canton, Mississippi, with additional sites in Yazoo City, Belzoni, Carthage, Greenwood and 9 school-based sites.
Dr. Coleman was named the 2022 Chief Executive Officer of the Year by the Community Health Centers of Mississippi and recently named one of Mississippi's Top CEOs for 2024 by the Mississippi Business Journal.
He also serves as Senior Pastor of Second Calvary Baptist Church, Heath Springs, SC.
He is married to the former Brenda Barrett and they are parents to Haison, Nierra and Barrett and grandparents to Niomi and Rileigh, his heartbeats.
Dr. Coleman is a 1988 initiate of the Lambda Gamma Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. and is a Life Member.
