CSaF1 - Partners of Choice: Civic Health

Elections are one important opportunity to vote for the issues that will improve our health. Clean air and water, safe neighborhoods, education, access to green spaces and affordable medication: all of these issues affect our health, and they are on the ballot through the candidates and issues they prioritize. My Vote. My Health. ™ is a campaign launched by AltaMed Health Services in 2018 to mobilize Community Health Center (CHC) patients, staff, providers, and communities served by CHC’s in California to address the social and political determinants of health. Under the leadership of AltaMed and the California Primary Care Association, this Integrated Civic Engagement Model (ICEM) expansion seeks to create CHC civic engagement hubs throughout California by linking community healthcare providers and local civic engagement organizations to help increase civic participation and build power in some of the most underserved and under-resourced communities in the state, in hopes of building transformational change that will lead to improved quality of life and closing the gaps on healthcare disparities. This session will discuss the importance and connection between civic engagement, voter engagement and social drivers of health.
