CSaK1 - Mobile Community Response: Partnering to Create a 911 Alternative for the City of Stockton

In November 2022, Community Medical Centers (CMC) and the City of Stockton launched the Mobile Community Response program to provide a 911 alternative for individuals with mental health and social service needs. Stockton, California — the most racially diverse city in America —has a critical need for behavioral health services and a critical shortage of providers. The shared goals of this unique partnership are to increase access to mental health services for all Stockton residents, decrease repeat callers, increase follow-up with wrap-around services, decrease fear or hesitancy to call for police, increase community trust, and decrease costs related to emergency calls.

The speakers will present an overview of the program including: 1) collaboration with local government, first responders, and community-based organizations; 2) project structure, funding, and plans for sustainability; and 3) lessons learned and data findings from the first year of this three-year pilot.
