A.T. Still School of Osteopathic Medicine
Courtney Oei, MS, is a third-year medical student at A.T. Still University, currently placed in Alton, IL. Selected as a Ferguson RISE Fellow, she spent the summer at the CDC evaluating research in the Division of High-Consequence Pathogens and Pathology through a health equity lens. She has worked at the Illinois Department of Public Health on syndromic surveillance for substance use and COVID-19, and contributed to the Healthy Places Index project at the Public Health Alliance.
Courtney earned a Master of Science in Epidemiology from the University of Illinois at Chicago while working as an EMT in the University of Chicago's Emergency Department. Her thesis on compassion fatigue during COVID-19 and her "Tech of the Year" award from UCM Emergency Medicine residents highlight her dedication to public health and emergency medicine.
With a BA in Applied Mathematics from Washington University in St. Louis, Courtney combines strong analytical skills with diverse clinical and public health experiences. She aims to pursue a career in Emergency Medicine, focusing on implementing public health interventions in emergency settings. Her volunteer work in harm reduction and leadership in the Harm Reduction Club at A.T. Still University reflects her commitment to supporting people who use drugs.
