Since first coming into effect in 2020, FQHCs have had to find strategies to address manufacturer's contract pharmacy restrictions. This session will focus on hands on operational strategies to address manufacturer contract pharmacy restrictions and help restore access to 340B medications. We will discuss alternatives for addressing the manufacturer restrictions, principally by designation of single pharmacies under alternate sites and data submission to 340B ESP. Speakers will review the use of pharmacy designation and limited data sharing as methods to restore access to restricted manufacturers, as well as share real world FQHC experiences from FQHCs already participating in these models.

  • Review recent changes in the contract pharmacy landscape and types of restrictions imposed by manufacturers.
  • Illustrate the steps involved to restore 340B access through data sharing and designating contract pharmacies to health center associated sites.
  • Compare and contrast strategies used by FQHCs to mitigate the impact to medication access and FQHC operational margin.
